The home opener at Bowen Park was a very slow start for Murphy and the Ranchers against the Red Sox as the game remained scoreless through the first five innings. The Ranchers accumulated 2 hits through the first five innings as the Red Sox put up 4 hits.
In the fifth inning, the Red Sox broke the stalemate scoring one unearned run off of the error by Slager on a line drive to right field allowing a run.
The Red Sox went on to put up another run in the top of the sixth. But after a scoreless seventh inning, the Ranch rallied two runs in the bottom of the eighth, tying up the game at two runs apiece.
The Ranch faltered in the top of the ninth, allowing two runners to score after walking twice with bases loaded. The Ranch would lose the game 4-2 with Robert Lock taking the loss.
