The Ranch struck early in the first game of the set against the Dirtbags scoring 2 runs in the top of the first to take an early lead. Bill Fell started on the mound for the Stead and held J0liet back until the third inning where the Dirtbags scored three runs in the bottom of the inning to take the lead. Fell would allow another four runs in the bottom of the fourth to put Joliet up 7-2 .
Fell tallied 2 SO, 4 BBs, and allowed 5 earned runs before Matt Rupert came in in relief. Rupert pitched 1.1 innings and earning 3 SO.
In the fifth inning, the Ranch would score one run followed by another 2 runs scored at the top of the sixth inning. Unfortunately the Stead could not keep the rally going and would drop the first game to Joliet 7-5 with Fell taking the loss.
